We went out to the SKurweberg 4x4 trail during March 2004. The trail is situated approximately 40km outside Sutherland. We spend a long weekend there, as the trail is a little too far from Cape Town to do over a shorter period of time.

This trail is a must from all aspects. Firstly, the camping facilities are the best that I have experienced to date. On the trail, the views are absolutely awesome as the trail takes you over the edge of the escarpment down a descent of almost 1000 metres, and the driving is great. 

The trail itself is mostly rock, and I rated it as moderate.

Witjan and Elsa Vd Merwe's hospitality is absolutely outstanding..

I will definitely put this one on my list to go and do again someday.
