We spent the weekend of 15 and 16 March 2003 out
on the Koleskloof 4X4 trail down near Bredasdorp with the Cederberg
4X4 club. The trail itself was not at all difficult, but the views
were awesome. There are some really interesting caves in the area as
well. We then went through to the De Hoop nature reserve where we
camped for the night. De Hoop is really a beautiful place where there
are over 7000 species of fynbos. We were lucky to see rare mountain
quachas, a lot of bontebok, ostriches, grysbok, eland and of course,
baboons. We also went down to Koppie Alleen, which is an
absolutely stunning beach where I believe the visibility is excellent
for snorkelling. We ended the trip off with a visit to the last hand
drawn ferry in the river that crosses the Breede River at Malgas. Here
are a couple of photos of the weekend.
