We have now driven the Boegoeberg 4X4 trail up between Piketberg and Lamberts Bay on the West
Coast on two seperate occasions, and I will most certainly visit it
again.
It is one of my favourite trails. The scenery is
absolutely spectacular, and
the driving is great with a little bit of everything but mostly
mountain (sand and rock) with steep ascents and descents.
I would rate the trail as pretty difficult and would not recommend
that anyone without experience attempt it, or that anyone attempt it
on their own.
Their are two campsites, one up on the mountain side, and one down
at the start of the trail. There is also a secluded cave high up on
the mountain that you can book for a nice quiet getaway. Your will
need a 4X4 with low range to get up to either the cave or the mountain
campsite.
Sybrie De Beer is also a fantastic host.
This is most certainly a trail that I would recommend well worth
visiting.
Here are a
couple of photographs we took.
